“I FELT DEFRAUDED.”
"When I think of ‘Discovering and Standing in your Authentic Voice,’ I don't think of writing. That's not something I had the time or desired to do. I felt defrauded.” - Anonymous review
The other day I taught about 200 people my straightforward, but not easy, five-step process for how to uncover their authentic voice by meeting themselves on the page. I could quote the tons of fantastic reviews I received from people who craved more when the hour ended. But instead, I just posted my one negative review.
Why would I do that?
Because that reviewer helped me see that Authentic Voice is not for everyone.
It’s only for you if you are willing to make the investment in yourself to pick up a pen and allow the subconscious to show you how your experiences have inform your full self.
It’s only for you if you are hungry to hear your soul’s voice on the page—even if you’re a little skeptical or scared.
It’s only for you if you are tired of the adage“be real,” tired of toxic positivity (also called “authenticity positivity bias,” but that’s a mouthful.
It’s only for you if you are willing to do the work, on the page, that will reveal your whole self to you. We’re too complex to have a “true” self, but we do. have a “whole” self, and accessing the subconscious, pen in hand, is the route in.
If this resonates with you, I hope you’ll join our community of authentic voice seekers. If not, that’s good to know, too!
