Seen. Known. Valued.

What’s more important than for each of us to to feel seen, known, and valued for our full self? Nothing. But how do we get there? We can unpack the science behind deep listening and the research on empathy. We can devour tons of self-awareness and leadership books that tell us the same thing: first, know yourself.

But HOW do we come to know ourselves? Therapy is one way. I have another—born from nearly 30 years as a high school English teacher. I teach people how to uncover their life experiences by writing them down in an automatic way. Once you see your truth on the page, you cannot unsee it. If that sounds scary, I understand: I started writing and developing Authentic Voice because I needed to become my first client. And I promise you that all you need is a guide. And a dose of courage.

Why do you need a guide? Because writing about the hurdles you’ve faced, the times you’ve turned back and forged ahead, the times you’ve persevered—and the times you have not—doesn’t come naturally. What comes naturally is to hide. That’s how insecurity and inauthenticity flourish.

If you’re tired of hiding, tired of feeling like you’re about to be found out for the imposter you think you are, at home or at work, I can help. I lessen the gap between your desire to know yourself and your fear of exposing yourself by leading you through you a series of exercises I developed working with teenagers and have continued to hone with adults in 1:1 sessions, retreats, and corporate and individual workshops. I teach you how to bypass your intellect and write from emotion.

And once you’ve wrestled with your self on the page, you just might choose to share the black ink on the white page—raising empathy through a communal act. Or not. Either is just fine. The benefits remain.

Every good thing comes from knowing your stories. And I can show you how. The next step is to join the Authentic Voice community for prompts to get you started. The outcome? Your authentic voice. Once you have it, you cannot lose it.
